WRANGLED BY THE RANCHER

MEN OF THE WEST

BOOK 3 OF 3

Wyatt Whitfield had given up a life of danger to become a rancher, hoping to soothe his jagged soul. When his friend and fellow agent asked him to keep a witness safe on his ranch, he’d expected to do just that – not to fall in love with the quiet, strong beauty. Now, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her – even if means letting her go.

Marissa Thomas wasn’t sure who she was anymore. When her brother disappeared into the local drug cartel, she’d given up everything she’d known to find him, uncaring that her own life was in jeopardy from the notorious drug lord responsible for her brother’s disappearance. She was willing to put her safety in the hands of sexy cowboy and former agent Wyatt Whitfield, but she hadn’t expected to leave her heart there was well.

EXCERPT

Wyatt banged his hat against his leg as he limped to the ranch house. He was furious with himself for getting thrown from the back of the bronc he’d been busting.  He’d been working with the horse for over a month now and had been ready to start the next phase of breaking him to saddle.

That was until today.

Today, he’d let his mind wander—something he’d done for the last three damn days. Ever since she had arrived.

The woman Clay had entrusted him to protect.

Well, who the hell was going to protect him from her? He truly didn’t know what the hell had happened during the last seventy-two hours, but somehow his world had turned upside down. He’d thought of nothing else but the brown-eyed woman from the time he got up in the mornings until he went to bed at night.

And his nights. Lord help his sinful soul, but the erotic dreams he had were enough to get him sent straight to hell.

He wanted the woman—and he didn’t know why.

Even though he was nothing like the womanizer Clay had been before he’d found Kayley, he had his fair share of women and then some. And why not? He was a rich man—a very rich man. He wasn’t vain by any means, but ask anyone, but Clay and Ethan, he thought with a laugh—and they would say he was easy on the eyes. He’d like to think he had a little charm under his Stetson. So, picking up women had always been easy for him. Maybe too easy, he thought at times, but he’d been young enough not to complain too much.

Now, he was older, and hopefully wiser. He’d been feeling a little lost and, maybe, just maybe, a little lonely. That might have been why he’d allowed himself to get in the mess he had with Melody, a local beauty queen who had flirted one night when he’d had a little too much to drink. He’d taken her out, shown her a good time—and before he could say Merry Christmas, she’d moved herself in and started planning a wedding. At first, he’d found that funny since he couldn’t remember proposing, then he’d gotten angry. .

Not that living with Melody was anything compared with living with her—the woman taking up most of his waking thoughts.

Marissa Thomas—a woman on the run.
