NEVADA'S PRIDE

HEARTBREAK RIDGE

BOOK 1 OF 3

In spite of losing her parents at a young age, Nevada had never missed a birthday celebration and her twenty-fifth was going to be life-changing. That is if she can convince her protective older brothers, Dakota and Jericho, to loosen the apron strings and let her claim her granny’s land. With it, she just might have a chance at her own life.

An ex-con, Tanner Jessup, needed a job—bad. Down to his last tank of gas, he has little option but to accept Nevada Sanders’ offer of work. Falsely accused of a crime he hadn’t committed once before by the daughter of a wealthy rancher he trusted, he planned to keep his distance from his new boss lady. But as he worked side by side with her through the long summer days, the attraction that sizzled between them was too hot to ignore.

With the vast differences between them, was it time to move on? Or could he come to terms with his past and find a future with the woman who had stolen the heart right out of his chest?

EXCERPT

Minutes later, Tanner watched his new boss as she strode across the yard. Her hair hung heavy down her back, pulled back in a braid that was as thick as his wrist. He imagined what it would look like loose, flying out behind her as she rode across a meadow of flowers.

Sappy much? Or was he just horny as hell, picturing a woman on a horse wearing next to nothing? But not any woman. This woman. This curvy, doll-faced woman. The woman who had his engine revving with no place to go.

He was a fool, he thought, not for the first time today. Or yesterday. He was a fool to be around this woman. To be in this town. He knew if he took one false step, made one wrong move, those brothers of hers would be on his ass faster than a bear on honey. Prison had been harsh, but crossing the Sanders brothers would make those two years seem like a cakewalk.

He realized she’d stopped walking and had turned around to look at him. Her hands were planted on her generous hips, and she wore her tan Stetson like a real cowboy. Again, he couldn’t prevent his gaze from traveling up and down her body. From the tips of her worn cowboy boots to the brown locks shining a deep auburn color in the early morning sun.
